As a Packaging Technologist, reporting to the Sr. Manager of Quality Assurance, you will be a part of the Sourcing, Quality, and Regulatory department. You will have the chance to manage your own product category that involves quality, sourcing, innovation, and supply planning.

One of your key responsibilities is to mentor and coach a fellow packaging quality specialist and offer guidance and support whenever required. You will also act as the first point of contact for suppliers, internal departments, and the international sales organization concerning your product category.

When it comes to your professional development, there are various responsibilities you need to fulfill. You need to keep yourself updated with relevant developments relating to your product category, exchange knowledge with others, and translate knowledge into smart proposals and ways of working. You will also lead global processes within your product category, working with and giving direction to the sourcing and innovations team to drive compliance with agreed ways of working and product performance standards. Participating in cross-functional project teams to support delivery of the quality strategy commitments is also one of your key responsibilities. As a business ambassador, you will protect all quality and product compliance requirements.

In terms of new product development, you need to define relevant performance criteria and create and maintain resulting product, and packaging specifications. You will define and approve all necessary packaging component testing (test protocol), and agree on clear product specifications with the suppliers, including material standards, functionality testing, construction, and components in adherence to the quality standards. Technical analysis of new packaging designs, identifying possible risks, and solutions to resolve technical problems, and minimizing changes to the design intent are also included in your responsibilities. For key launches, you will initiate, monitor, and approve filling line and transit trials and implement remedial actions as appropriate.

Lastly, documentation is an essential aspect of your position. You need to manage good technical data records, project data, specifications (e.g., Bills of Material), test results, and ensure correct input of data into the ERP system. In collaboration with suppliers, you will compose and approve AQL range boards for individual packaging components and final products.

Our ideal candidate is someone who exudes positivity and humor, while also having a strong educational and experiential background. If you have a Bachelor's or Master's degree in science or technology, or equivalent knowledge, experience, and training in packaging, design, industrial engineering, or chemistry, then we want to hear from you.

We are seeking someone with a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in an R&D/Quality Assurance/Technology role in the specific industry of specialism (i.e. FMCG, cosmetic packaging, cosmetics, home/air care products, detergents). Strong written and verbal communication skills are a must, with a good command of the English language. You should also have experience in briefing and specifying requirements for developed products, working with your team and supplier to create clear specification packs.

As an ideal candidate, you should also have strong project management and planning skills. You are someone with a positive drive and eye for detail who can problem-solve with ease and make things simple. You should be able to work as a team player and show respect, support, and discipline. It is also important that you are familiar with NPD processes, preferably in the cosmetics or FMCG field, and that you are flexible, multitask-oriented, and can work towards tight deadlines while maintaining entrepreneurialism.

As a supervisor and co-worker, you should be a self-starter who is solution-oriented and accurate, and in the possession of a driver's license.
