We are accelerating the energy transition with sustainable home energy solutions for all. Our goal is to help 3 million households transition by 2030, and we need a skilled professional to join our Software & Infrastructure team as a Senior Backend Engineer.

About the Role

As a Senior Backend Engineer, you will work closely with our engineering teams to design and implement features across the entire stack. Our backend is built in NodeJS/Typescript, using MySQL and Redis, and OpenAPIspec for the API specification, connecting to devices in the field over MQTT.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop the backend of our apps and other interfaces for customers, installers, and internal teams.
  • Connect to various (cloud) datasources and APIs to architect the best infrastructure.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement new features and enhancements for backend and mobile applications.
  • Integrate with databases, third-party APIs, libraries, and SDKs to enhance functionality and performance.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve application bugs, performance issues, and other technical challenges.
  • Work with testing to ensure application stability and reliability.
  • Contribute to brainstorming ideas on how to improve our internal processes and help the team grow.
Requirements
  • You want to make a positive impact on the world and fight climate change.
  • You have a Bachelor's degree (Computer Science or Engineering) and 7+ years of experience in developing and deploying APIs in Node/Typescript.
  • You understand web and mobile application architecture, including performance optimization and scalability.
  • You have experience with integrating third-party APIs, libraries, and SDKs.
  • You think about the whole end2end architecture, beyond the backend, in both the app and the rest of the architecture.
  • You possess strong problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills, with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve application bugs, performance issues, and other technical challenges.
  • You are committed to staying up-to-date with the latest industry trends, technologies, and best practices in full-stack development, and proactively share your knowledge with the team.
  • You have a minimum fluency level of C1 in English.
  • You do not require visa sponsorship to live and work in the Netherlands.
