About the RoleThe Faculty of Science and Engineering (FSE) is seeking an experienced research project manager to join their team. In this role, you will support scientific projects from start to finish, preparing and applying for grants, starting up projects, reporting progress, and managing amendment procedures.
You will ensure the efficient and correct handling of national and international grant processes, serving as the linking pin in all processes. You will work closely with the Research Support Office (RSO), which consists of experienced professionals who contribute to pre- and post-award phases of research projects.
Key Responsibilities- Identify competitive Horizon Europe calls relevant for researchers and promote project proposals in collaboration with the Faculty funding advisor.
- Assist principal investigators and their team members with the preparation of research proposals, ensuring compliance with call funding policies and regulations.
- Prepare specific instructions for proposal structure and focus, help revise drafts, and provide feedback on format, language, and content.
- Help prepare proposal budgets and handle formal registration and submission of proposals.
- Guide the grant-related contract process and liaise with legal affairs and privacy officers.
- Monitor project progress against agreed milestones and deliverables, signaling any issues in a timely manner.
- Assist in regular financial reporting and discuss financial data with faculty administrative support.
- A MSc degree or Ph.D. degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Life Sciences, or related fields.
- At least 2 years' experience in managing European projects, focusing on the Horizon Europe program.
- Administrative skills, familiarity with financial and legal administration related to projects.
- Funding landscape knowledge, particularly in the scientific domain.
- Project management skills, time management, strong organizational skills, and prioritization abilities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; proficiency in Dutch is an advantage.
Maastricht University offers excellent employment conditions, including a salary range of €33,445 to €52,778 per month (based on a full-time employment of 38 hours per week). The position comes with an 8% holiday allowance and an 8.3% year-end bonus.
In addition, the university provides flexible working hours, the possibility to work partly from home, a monthly commuting and internet allowance, 29 vacation days, and four additional public holidays per year.
