About the Role

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop reproducible data pipelines using cloud-native tools, focusing on infrastructure as code, automated tests, and reusability.
  • Collaborate with scientists, project managers, and other stakeholders to translate their needs into technical requirements, ensuring data products are meaningful, comprehensible, and practical.
  • Lead projects and contribute to smaller initiatives, promoting good coding and data practices.
  • Generate comprehensive documentation for technical and non-technical users.

Requirements

  • Master's or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Bioinformatics, or a related field.
  • At least 3 years of experience as a data engineer, with a focus on data pipeline design and creation.
  • Familiarity with ETL jobs (e.g., AWS Glue, Databricks jobs, AWS Lambda) and orchestrators (e.g., AWS StepFunctions).
  • Strong experience in database design, querying languages (SQL, PySpark), and delta lake (delta tables).
  • Proficiency in Python, including OOP, automated testing, and experience with R is a plus.
  • Basic knowledge of FAIR principles and GXP rules for data handling is advantageous.
