We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Engineer to join our standardization team at Damen Shipyards. As a Mechanical Engineer, you will be responsible for developing standardized solutions for our range of ships.

About the Role

The successful candidate will have a degree in Mechanical Engineering and experience in the maritime sector. You will be part of an innovative team looking for ways to improve existing designs or create new designs which will help Damen to reduce costs and lead-time and improve quality.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supporting the Services department and the Yards in case of problems related to the standard designs;
  • Mechanical standardization and development projects, under the ultimate responsibility of the Project Manager Engineering;
  • Creating a well-supported technical design and solution, based on functional and/or stakeholder requirements;
  • Ensuring that the designs and solutions comply to the applicable rules and standards.

Requirements

  • A quality consciousness and a practical approach;
  • You are an easy-going person, pro-active, creative, showing ownership and result driven;
  • Bachelor degree in Engineering, preferably in the field of Mechanical Engineering;
  • Working experience in Mechanical Engineering in the maritime sector;
  • Familiarity with the Rules and Regulations and being able to interpret it and translate it for our ship-type portfolio;
  • An interest in innovation and an open mindset to new technologies;
  • Good communication skills in managing stakeholders, but also in documenting the standard;
  • English is a must, Dutch is a plus.
