Damen Shipyards is a leading manufacturer of naval vessels, with a global presence and a commitment to innovation and sustainability. As a Data Analyst, you will play a key role in enabling departments and management to make informed, data-driven decisions.

The Role

As a Data Analyst at Damen Shipyards, you will be responsible for managing the complete data lifecycle, from gathering data to leveraging it effectively within the organization. This will involve collaborating closely with engineers, project managers, and other stakeholders to understand their data needs and provide insights for informed decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

  • Gathering data from various sources, including ship sensors, production systems, and relevant application databases, and integrating it to create a comprehensive dataset for analysis
  • Collaborating closely with engineers, project managers, and other stakeholders to understand their data needs and provide insights for informed decision-making
  • Determining and sustaining data ownership, formulating and upholding quality rules, developing a data risk profile, ensuring data security, and managing definitions and descriptions according to data governance
  • Performing statistical analysis to identify trends, patterns, and anomalies in the data; generating reports and visualizations to communicate findings to stakeholders and decision-makers
  • Ensuring data accuracy by identifying and rectifying errors or inconsistencies and validating data to maintain its quality and reliability
  • Supporting and training end-users on reporting tools and best practices
  • Identifying areas where data analysis can enhance operational efficiency or streamline processes
  • Staying updated on the latest tools and technologies in data analysis and exploring new methods and approaches to improve the effectiveness of Damen Shipyards' data analysis needs
  • Documenting data analysis processes, methodologies, and findings to facilitate knowledge sharing and future reference

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience with providing business critical insights through data analysis
  • Experience in working with Power BI or SSAS data analysis tools
  • (Preferably) experience in the maritime / defense or related industry
  • Experience in data management in a large international company
  • Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field
  • Excellent references and a permanent EU citizenship
