Job Summary
The Department of Physics at HKU is seeking a highly skilled Technical Officer to provide technical support and manage the teaching laboratories. The appointee will be responsible for ensuring the smooth running of experimental classes, providing guidance to students, and maintaining laboratory equipment.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide technical support and assistance to students during laboratory sessions
- Manage the teaching laboratories, including purchasing and maintaining equipment
- Develop and improve experiments under supervision
- Organize and manage teaching duties of teaching assistants
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Physical Science, Electronic/Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline
- 2-5 years' technical support experience, with teaching experience an advantage
- Knowledge of physics, applied physics, or engineering physics at university level
- Knowledge of laboratory control or data analysis software, such as LabVIEW or Origin
- Good command of spoken and written English and Chinese
- Good interpersonal, organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills
- IT proficiency and ability to multitask
What We Offer
The appointment will be made on a fixed-term full-time contract for 2 years, with a highly competitive salary and benefits package.
