As a Senior Software Quality Assurance Engineer at Thermo Fisher Scientific, you will play a key role in ensuring the highest quality of our software products. Your primary responsibility will be to design and implement automated testing solutions for complex systems.


With a strong background in software testing and quality assurance, you will work closely with our development teams to create automated software tests and help them create automated tests at the system level. Your expertise in test automation will also be utilized to align testing across the Automation group, ensuring that our products meet the highest standards of quality.


A key aspect of this role is the ability to work with various stakeholders, including architects, technical leads, test engineers, and product owners, to align testing and test strategies between different teams located at different locations. Your excellent communication and leadership skills will be essential in driving this alignment and ensuring that our testing efforts are effective and efficient.


You will be responsible for aligning test strategy, test architecture, and test plans across the automation group. This will involve building extensive knowledge of transmission electron microscopes and being able to manually or automatically complete tests on a test system with R&D.


Key responsibilities of this role include:



  • Reviewing requirements, user stories, and assessing risks
  • Writing test plans, including planning estimations
  • Reviewing integration testing and feature delivery
  • Writing test specs, implementing automatic test scripts, and reviewing test specs of colleagues
  • Executing test cases, analyzing test results, and writing test reports
  • Reporting test progress and providing an independent and substantiated release advice
  • Initiating and supporting product quality improvements
  • Leading test activates at software and system level
  • Aligning testing and test automation across the group, across sites
  • Designing and implementing automated and manual test cases
  • Planning, managing, and coordinating sprint-based test automation team activities via the backlog
  • Providing technical leadership, direction, and hands-on assistance to other members of the team
  • Acting as the entry point for system-level test automation-related issues
  • Identifying and following up on opportunities to improve
  • Mentoring other test engineers in test automation methodologies and alignment to overall testing strategy
  • Identifying issues/bottlenecks in the infrastructure domain of the test environment

Requirements:



  • Agile attitude
  • Great teammate with strong communication skills
  • Experience with Python or relevant test automation technologies
  • Experience with tool chain that includes Jira, Git, Jenkins
  • Good understanding of test processes, methodologies, and standards, preferably underpinned by an ISTQB certification
  • Risk-based testing, to improve test resource usage efficiency and apply the most suitable test technique
  • Strong communication and management skills
  • Well-structured way of working
  • Eagerness/drive to get results (also from others) within project timelines
  • Combination of orderliness and technical skills

Position Requirements:



  • Technical master's or bachelor's degree (Software Engineering, Computer Science, or Electronic Engineering, Applied Physics)
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in test design and testing of complex multidisciplinary (hardware/software) systems
  • Experience with different testing techniques, functional, and non-functional testing and test automation
  • Experience with quality improvement (processes and products)
