Postdoctoral Researcher in Pandemic Preparedness

We are seeking an exceptional Postdoctoral Researcher in Pandemic Preparedness to join our team at the Erasmus Universiteit Rotterdam. The successful candidate will lead the Underserved Groups project, which aims to identify individual and contextual barriers and drivers for underserved groups towards the support for and compliance with public health and social measures implemented during a pandemic.

The project will utilize the WHO Tailoring Health Programmes Approach (THP), consisting of four phases: situation analysis, research, intervention design, implementation, and evaluation. The successful candidate will conduct qualitative research into the barriers and drivers to COVID-19 public health and social measures within a specific prioritized group, such as older people with a migrant background residing in Rotterdam.

The candidate will work closely with a multidisciplinary team of researchers and professionals to translate the findings into interventions and implement them in collaboration with various stakeholders. Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret qualitative data effectively are essential for this role.

The successful candidate will have a PhD in behavioral sciences, social or health psychology, sociology, or a related field, and a strong affinity with the field of behavior and infectious diseases/pandemics. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, are also required.

  • Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct qualitative research into the barriers and drivers to COVID-19 public health and social measures within a specific prioritized group.
  • Translate the findings into interventions and implement them in collaboration with various stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of researchers and professionals to design and conduct qualitative research activities.
  • Analyze qualitative data and interpret the findings into concrete interventions for policy and practice.

Requirements:

  • PhD in behavioral sciences, social or health psychology, sociology, or a related field.
  • Strong affinity with the field of behavior and infectious diseases/pandemics.
  • Excellent analytical skills and ability to interpret qualitative data effectively.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
