To join our team at Charles River Laboratories at our site in Groningen we are looking for an
ex vivo Electrophysiologist
Our site:
Our Groningen CNS specialized site is a dedicated group where we perform discovery level research. We focus on non-GLP DMPK (drug metabolism and pharmacokinetics) and pharmacology studies to better understand neuroscience disease pathophysiology. including but not limited to, microdialysis, electrophysiology, pharmacokinetic screening and bioanalysis.
Your roll:
In this position you will be responsible for designing, planning, performing and reporting of sponsor requested electrophysiology studies. Studies are based on ex vivo single cell or slice recordings. Manual Patch-Clamp and Multi Electrode Array are the techniques you will be using to conduct your studies with. The hands on work is often more individual, but for the entire study you will be collaborating together with scientific staff and animal technicians. You will bring in hands-on expertise to transfer and establish methods and to obtain high quality data.
Responsibilities:
Your responsibilities will include data collection and analysis as well as data interpretation and communication of results internally and externally. You ensure that study aims are reached and work follows relevant protocols, guidelines and legislation. CRL is committed to support the 3Rs and you have an equally strong sense of applying this to the research.
Qualifications:
- Advanced academic degree in the life sciences;
- Understanding of neuroscience on the cellular and systems level;
- Experience with patch clamp measurements in cultured cells and/or acute slices and/or experience with multi electrode array measurements in acute slices;
- Programming skills and understanding of principles of electronics;
- Fluency in English, oral and written;
- Ability to coordinate and prioritize;
- Excellent communication, loves a scientific challenge and positive attitude.
Nice to have:
- Experience with in vivo extracellular electrophysiology will be an asset
- Knowledge of neuropharmacology and / or drug development processes will be an asset
- Article 9 (Laboratory Animal Science)
