Our Finance team brings our financial perspectives into our overall strategic and tactical decision making. Our company has many legal entities in The Netherlands engaged in sales, production, research & development of both human health and animal health pharmaceuticals. In addition, legal entities in The Netherlands also have a significant role in the company’s global holding and treasury activities. We use state-of-the-art techniques for financial analysis, planning, accounting, reporting and performance evaluation. This allows the organization to continue advancing medical innovation and improve lives.
 

Purpose of the role
As a Senior Specialist Corporate Income Tax you will be responsible for analyzing the tax related company processes and the preparation of tax filings. Also, pension reporting, reviewing and monitoring adequate financial controls and risk compliance will be part of your responsibilities. In addition, in this position you are responsible for the tax accounting and controlling for the companies in the Netherlands. You will cooperate closely with other members of the accounting teams and the Corporate Tax and Treasury departments.

You will ensure an effective financial control environment by understanding and monitoring the execution of local control procedures including that all key controls as defined in the company’s Global and Local Control Standards are properly executed and documented. You will support global projects, as well as support financial efforts on a local level.

Tasks and responsibilities include, but are not limited to

  • Hands-on preparation of corporate income tax returns, associated schedules, and position papers
  • Review monthly tax entries and quarterly tax reporting.
  • Provide input for the compilation of transfer pricing documentation.
  • Ability to coach, train and assist in mentoring accounting staff and other internal stakeholders.
  • Review, design, advise and implement adequate control measures of the potential risks related to Corporate Income Tax and horizontal monitoring processes.
  • Ensure that SOX testing and reporting are executed within the expected time limits and quality. Liaise with other members of the team to build a stronger control environment and create consistency within the international team.
  • Develop finance view on tax including determining of tax accounting for business deals and other non-routine transactions. Managing and supporting internal and external tax audits, including tax technical analyses or litigation assistance
  • Supporting the Associate Director, Pensions, Tax and Treasury Director with various ad hoc projects, ranging from business restructurings to M&A transactions and specific reporting processes
  • Opportunity to engage in broader finance projects, for example in relation to pensions, treasury, grants, etc.

Your profile

  • A Bachelor’s/master’s degree in accounting/Finance/Tax
  • A minimum of 4 years of demonstrated experience in preparing tax filings.
  • Working experience in either an in-house tax compliance department within a multinational company or equivalent experience gained within an accounting/advisory firm.
  • Experience with Corporate Governance regulations/tax control framework/tax audit methodology and internal controls is a pre.
  • Keen interest in international finance and tax environment
  • Outstanding analytical skills
  • High proficiency in English (Dutch is a strongly preferred)
  • Highly skilled in working with excel/automated databases.
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines.
  • Ability to build strong relationships within and across functions with ability to deal with senior management level.
  • SAP knowledge is a pre.
  • Knowledge of corporate tax legislation is essential.
  • Hands on mentality
