Description

As a member of the Technology Preparation Section in the Future Missions Department in the Directorate of Science, you will report directly to the Head of Section.

The Future Missions Department (SCI-F) oversees mission preparation activities and Small Missions for the Directorate of Science. This includes predevelopment efforts to ensure the readiness of the mission candidates at adoption, parallel and closely correlated to the respective system studies. The Science Technology Programme Coordinator in the Technology Preparation Section (SCI-FT) is responsible for the planning and coordination of the implementation of the necessary predevelopments, and the associated monitoring and reporting.

Duties

You will be the focal point for the planning and coordination of predevelopments for future Science missions.

Duties are focused (but not limited) to the preparation of development plans and the monitoring of the implementation of the respective activities and the evolution of the required tools.

Your tasks will specifically include: 

  • collaborating across ESA and with external entities to plan the implementation of technology development activities for future Science missions;
  • preparing the Technology Development Plans following ESA end-to-end technology management processes and producing formal/official documents;
  • monitoring the status of the development plans, organising quarterly implementation reviews and producing the respective reports;
  • managing processes and tools for monitoring technology development activities and preparing reports for internal and external stakeholders;
  • providing technical support for developing technologies needed for future Science missions (as a Technical Officer) and for overseeing activities such as preparing statements of work and the definition and follow-up of technical requirements;
  • supporting Technology Readiness Assessments for future science missions and advanced studies related to advanced technologies;
  • participating in technical reviews and working groups.
