Our client is a bank founded in the Netherlands with a strong presence internationally. Their client base is international corporate and retail customer based. They differentiate themselves with their "can do" attitude and with their diverse background and footprint which allows them to think outside the box. They are experts in selected markets and selected products, and offer their corporate customers a wide range of banking products.

With their decades experience in international trade and commodity finance they have extensive experience and expertise in acting as a bridge for their customers in key importing and exporting countries around the world. In addition, their services are facilitated through a centralised, cross-border contact centre where they utilise their branch network to serve their retail customers.

Job Description

The sustainable finance landscape in the EU is rapidly evolving, driven by regulatory initiatives aimed at integrating environmental, social, and governance (ESG) considerations into financial decision-making. In this context, this role serves as the key driver of the Bank's commitment to sustainability and Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles, while ensuring alignment with regulatory standards.

In this role you are in charge of setting up ESG processes from scratch.

In addition you will be:

Implementing the corporate sustainability strategy and sustainability initiativesLeading the development and monitoring of the Bank's sustainability policiesOverseeing sustainability reporting to ensure adherence to relevant rules and regulations, such as the CSRD and EU TaxonomyEnsuring the Bank's ESG risk assessment policies, processes and frameworks are in full compliance with applicable rules and regulations and are aligned with the Bank's risk appetite, loan underwriting principles, and business strategyOverseeing the Bank's GHG emissions inventory covering Scope 1-2-3 emissionsCoordinating and providing sustainability/ESG training's for internal stakeholders and raising organisational awarenessReport directly to the CRO

The Successful Applicant

Bachelor's degree or above.Minimum of 6- 8 years of working experience in sustainability/ESG field within banking, consultancy, risk management, or related environments.Knowledge of key sustainability challenges and regulations, ESG international standards/principles and best practices and their relevance to the banking sectorSkilled in effectively leading and overseeing a small teamAbility to work independently, be proactive, prioritise and operate under tight deadlines
