Our client is a well-known international organisation which promotes sustainability on a global level and in a wide range of industries committing to address global environmental, social, and governance challenges.

To reinforce their team, they are looking for a Communications Director who would be based either in Geneva, Amsterdam or London.

Job Description

The Communications Director leads the Communications Pillar.

This individual is responsible for the development and delivery of a communications strategy focused on maintaining and enhancing the community reputation as a trusted, collaborative and action-oriented reference for lifecycle issues.
This role will manage the external relations program for that seeks to increase both public awareness and awareness in the science community and supports programs and activities.

The Communications Director will:

Coordinates the definition of the communication strategyTo develops, direct and implement strategic internal and external communications efforts, massaging platforms, including digital content and web, that increase understanding and support of the programs, projects and activities.To coordinate and facilitate communications Co-Chair development of biennial communications workplans and lead the process toward the validation of the workplan with the ability to synthetize complex information/data and translate them into concise contentTo lead the execution of the communication strategyTo ensure delivery of the communications work workplanTo direct the development and editing of content (for various publications, including news releases, feature articles, news stories, postings, reports and other communication which highlight programs, accomplishments for dissemination to print and broadcast media sources, social media and web-based sourcesTo ensure messaging is consistent, timely and relevant by directing the development and maintenance of a global digital repository of communications messagingTo evaluate the effectiveness and efficiency of internal and external information (key communications approaches, deliverables), media and external relations.To prepare informative materials, scripts and speeches and other communications for communications ambassadors (members, Assurance Group)To assume the role of spokesperson for the communityTo provide communication counsel and guidance to the executive director and organizationTo build and foster relationships with key figures, journalists, science community and other influencersTo serve as a liaison and collaborator with regional trade associations to facilitate and ensure consistency in messaging and strategic approach to discussing challenges affecting the industry

The Successful Applicant

A bachelor's degree, preferably with a major in communications, public relations, marketing, journalism, or a related (sustainability) field. A master's degree in the aforementioned disciplines is desirableAt least 10 years of professional-level experience in managing a communications, public relations, or related program, which must have included experience with various media sources such as social media, web based, broadcast, and printmedia.Experience with legislative, legal and regulatory activities is desirableA specialization in sustainability, manufacturing industry and/or the natural sciences is a distinct advantage.Principles of communications and public relations and its role in advancing an organizational agendaMethods and techniques of preparing and disseminating news releases and securing media placementsDesign content and production of public/science community relations materialsPresenting concepts effectively verbally and in writingFluency in English (written and spoken) is essential; skills in Japanese and/or Korean is an advantageDigital tech savvyDetail-oriented with good project-management skills, and excellent analytical and organizational abilitiesAchieving the understanding and support of individuals or groups with indifferent or opposing points of viewProficient with the Microsoft Office suite and Content Management SystemLead, motivate, direct, train, and develop other
