Job Overview
The Assistant Accountant will work to manage the following Accounting activities: Payments and reports. Key responsibilities:
Review supplier/customer ledger accounts/statements as well as balance sheet reconciliations by continuously engaging the payables and receivables team regarding discrepancies and reports. Review the authentication of supporting documentation for all suppliers and ensure they are correctly stored. Manage the cost line of the entity to ensure all expenses are fully accounted for and relevant accruals and releases are done. Capture data into the company’s ERP and support the preparation of management accounts and annual financial statements. Prepare and compute VAT, WHT, and CIT liabilities in accordance with applicable rules and regulations. Prepare monthly VAT, WHT, and annual CIT returns and submit them for review. Prepare monthly accounting/tax reports and balance sheet reconciliations by the set due date. Support the budget preparation process and participate in cost optimization strategies. Update weekly cash flow forecast and projections by adhering to set timelines. Create regulatory and statutory payments on Smart Pay and via any other means authorized by the company. Prepare cost reports and participate in cost control measures in line with the budget on a weekly basis and submit for review. Participate in the implementation of local and group internal control policies and procedures. Assist in the weekly or monthly stock counts in conjunction with other departments. Any other ad-hoc tasks. Required qualifications: High school certificate or equivalent Bachelor’s degree in finance/accounting/Final level ZICA/ACCA/CIMA Member of ZICA is a must 2 years minimum experience Preferred skills: Strong analytical and mathematical skills Tax knowledge and experience Experience with accounting software and online platforms especially SAP and Pastel Good communication etiquette
