Welcome to our team

The Swine and Ruminants R&D department is an essential hub in our organization. This department is focused on vaccine development for large farm animals. The team consists of 65 employees, all of whom have extensive knowledge and experience in vaccine development. The team works closely with other departments within the company to achieve the stated goals.

Your internship assignment

As an intern, you will be responsible for the development and validation of an antigenic mass AlphaLISA for the quantification of Porcine Parvo Virus and a serological test (AlphaLISA) to measure antibodies against Porcine Parvo Virus. Both tests are required for the development of a new intradermal vaccine.

Your responsibilities

  • Development of an antigenic mass AlphaLISA for Porcine Parvo virus.

  • Development of an AlphaLISA test to measure antibodies against Porcine Parvo Virus.

  • If time allows, validation of both tests

  • Providing a fresh perspective to the department by sharing your opinion

The described tasks form the basic package and will often be performed independently after a proper training and learning period. These tasks may be supplemented with other projects and/or tasks on your own initiative or at the request of the organization, e.g. participate in other aspects of vaccine development.

What is required

  • You must be a fourth-year HBO Life Sciences/Microbiology student (or related study)

  • Familiarity with ELISA techniques

  • Excellent Dutch and/or English communication skills, both written and verbal

  • Available for a period of 5-6 months for 5 days per week.
