QC Lab Manager LQS Chemistry

Develop and ensure realization of the operations strategy for the LQS Chemistry/Microbiology department, lead your team (60fte) and continuously improve the operational processes in line with the LQS strategy and applicable regulations and guidelines, in order to realize the agreed objectives and targets. If you become energized by building a solid and futureproof laboratory, this is the job for you. Our goal is to lead within the Global Supply Chain of FrieslandCampina by timely fulfilling the complex task of executing QC tests.

• Develop the policies and objectives for the department on a tactical level, in line with overall laboratory strategy and provide input to the development of the overall operations strategy for the laboratory.
• Develop a challenging year plan and budget for the department with use of the overal strategy and the input from the shiftleaders with the aim to maintain high quality standards, high employee motivation, continuously improve work processes and an increase productivity.
• Ensure the implementation of the year plan, monitor the progress and, if necessary, take measures in line with the applicable guidelines.
• Manage, allocate and optimize the resources needed to run the laboratory department (materials, people, equipment) and projects within the budget.
• Provide insights at request or at own initiative regarding quantitative and qualitative developments by means of periodical and ad hoc reports and/or analyses, based on reporting guidelines.
• Analyse current (work)processes, signal and evaluate bottlenecks and initiate and implement improvements.
• Initiate, define, plan, manage and coordinate assigned projects, within the project management guidelines.
• Appoint, lead, coach and appraise shiftleaders and develop and stimulate a good cooperation between shiftleaders both within and outside of the department.

Wat we vragen

• Demonstrable experience in change management is essential.
• 4-year relevant and completed applied Sciences Bachelor (HBO) education in Chemistry, Food Technology or (technical) Business administration (or comparable)
• Knowledge of chemical analysis methods and laboratory equipment is a plus
• Knowledge of laboratory process flows  
• Analytical work and thinking skills 
• Up-to-date knowledge of quality management and quality management systems
• Experience in a managerial position is an advantage

Laboratory & Quality Support (LQS) is the central laboratory in Leeuwarden. In our laboratory, we work with enthusiastic colleagues to carry out chemical, sensory and microbiological research on behalf of our own factories for raw materials, intermediate and end products. FrieslandCampina's ISO 17025 accreditation is proof of the high level of Laboratory & Quality Services. In addition to this accreditation, LQS is certified according to the GMP10 standards.
