About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Data Engineer to join our Central Data Factory team at Schiphol Group. As a Senior Data Engineer, you will play a key role in developing solutions for real-time challenges, such as optimizing wait times and dynamically routing passengers, enhancing the overall airport experience.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, implement, and test cloud-based data-intensive applications using Azure.
  • Collaborate with Lead Engineers, Data Architects & Enterprise Architects for technical solutions.
  • Help team members with technical questions and coach junior team members.
  • Identify integration requirements of several data sources and design robust data pipelines.
Requirements
  • 5+ years of experience with data-driven solutions, including production data-pipeline deployment and management.
  • Strong Scala or Kotlin skills (2+ years hands-on experience preferred).
  • Experience with message brokers (e.g., Kafka, Azure EventHub).
  • Proficiency in data processing frameworks (e.g., Spark, Flink, Beam) for batch and streaming pipelines.
  • Understanding of logging and monitoring importance (preferably Splunk, OpenTelemetry).
  • 1+ year experience with cloud platforms (preferably Microsoft Azure).
  • Familiarity with DevOps technologies (e.g., Kubernetes, Docker, Helm).
What We Offer
  • € 5173 to € 7176 gross per month (Schaal 13).
  • A 13th month (year-end bonus).
  • The possibility to work 4 x 9 hours in a 36-hour work week.
  • An NS Business Card that fully reimburses travel by public transportation to and from work.
