Your mission

We are Vertigo Games, developers and publishers of big hit VR titles like Arizona Sunshine, The 7th Guest and the highly anticipated Metro Awakening. Our Amsterdam studio is embarking on a new strand of ambitious crossover products that aim to bring together the mobile and VR gaming audiences.

We are looking to hire a Game Director to spearhead the project, serving as the bridge between the creative vision and its practical implementation, guiding the team toward a shared understanding of the project's goals and creating an environment where everyone feels invested in the final product.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Define the creative vision and scope of the product in collaboration with senior management and stakeholders.
  • Responsible for ensuring the product's quality, vision & scope and work closely with project leads to translate this vision into a development plan.
  • Provide high-level guidance, instructions, and feedback to the team leadership in a way that fosters shared ownership of the project roadmap.
  • Translate the creative vision into a comprehensive development plan by working closely with project leads.
  • Give regular updates on the project's vision and status to the studio and external stakeholders.
  • Manage the project's design team directly.
Your profile
  • Previous experience in a Game Director or Lead Designer role for at least 3 years on successful mobile free to play games aimed at a midcore audience.
  • Strong affinity for finding the fun and distilling it into games with a high level of engagement and a strong social connection between players.
  • Experienced in managing economy designers and skilled at integrating the data into the design process.
  • Highly skilled in collaborating across disciplines and with external stakeholders.
  • Can balance the needs of the team for creative expression and ownership against the technical and budgetary constraints.
Bonus points for
  • Previous working experience in console/PC games development.
  • Unity knowledge and scripting skills.
  • Experience working with VR/AR.
