Mechatronics Lab Engineer

As a lab Engineer, your responsibilities encompassthe design and operation of experimental equipment. You will be anintegral part of a diverse and international team that includesscientific and technical personnel. Your ingenuity will be put tothe test as you devise innovative solutions to advance ourworld-class scientificresearch.
- Design, Construct, andMaintain Experimental Setups: Create and manage variousexperimental configurations, with a special emphasis on controlsystems and electronics (mechatronics) within the realm of solarfuels research.
- Instrument Oversight: Supervisethe utilization, operation, and maintenance of instruments. Provideguidance to new users and act as the primary point of contact fortroubleshooting. Organize equipment maintenance and repairs,procure consumables and instrument components, and oversee theirinstallation.
- Equipment Procurement: Offerinsights into the acquisition of new research equipment. Stayupdated on emerging equipment and processes in the market andadvise your supervisor and colleagues regarding innovativetechnologies and potential applications in our current and futureresearch.
- Documentation: Thoroughly documentthe experimental setups, including electronic schematics in WSCAD,user instructions, and safetyprotocols.
- Onboarding: Introduce new teammembers to laboratory procedures and safetyprotocols.
- Participation: Engage in meetingsrelated to research, infrastructure, organization, and safety.Contribute actively to cultivating a strong safetyculture.
- Bachelor degree in mechatronics orelectrical engineering.
- Demonstrate a staunchcommitment to safety, both personal andcollective.
- Proficient in both English andpreferably Dutch, enabling effectivecommunication.
- Possess a problem-solvingmindset with a proactive approach tochallenges.
- Display multitasking prowess,enabling seamless transitions between various projects andtasks.
- Proficient time and project managementskills.
- Prior experience with vacuum systems,pneumatics, and familiarity with WSCAD would beadvantageous.
