Universiteit Leiden is searching for a dedicated Privacy Officer to join their team. As the Privacy Officer, you will be instrumental in ensuring compliance with legal obligations, aligning them with the organization's values and ethical standpoints.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop policies for proper handling of personal data
  • Create or review privacy statements
  • Provide advice on privacy complaints and inquiries
  • Assist in conducting Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs) and managing data breaches
  • Advise on processor agreements and data exchange agreements
  • Act as a mentor or legal consultant for colleagues
  • Offer legal counsel on intricate privacy matters
  • Contribute to creating frameworks and procedures for standardizing processes

The Privacy Office at Universiteit Leiden is committed to ensuring data privacy. The team comprises about eight members, including temporary staff, and is transitioning towards establishing frameworks from operational tasks. They emphasize both hard work and team spirit, working closely with the Security Office and collaborating across faculties, services, and partnerships.

The focus for the upcoming year is on strengthening the privacy organization, revamping relationships with faculties, services, and the Data Protection Officer, and enhancing awareness.

We are in search of an experienced Privacy Officer with a legal/administrative background and extensive GDPR compliance expertise, particularly in research privacy, processor agreements, and access requests. Ideally, the candidate should possess legal proficiency and a few years of experience in an HBO, university, or governmental environment.


Requirements:
- Experienced jurist with administrative law knowledge and IT acumen
- Multiple years of similar role experience
