The International School Utrecht is an International Baccalaureate World School and part of SPO Utrecht (primary) and Nuovo Scholen (secondary). ISUtrecht offers the International Baccalaureate curriculum for students from 4-19 from diverse international backgrounds. We are a close knit, inclusive, and welcoming community of students, staff, and parents. ISUtrecht is a member of the Dutch International schools (DIS), a group of over twenty schools providing internationally-oriented primary and/or secondary education.
Who we are
We are an IB continuum school offering the Primary Years Programme, Middle Years Programme, and Diploma Programme. We are a fast growing school with over 1000 students and 150 staff members from all over world. We are a community of life-long learners.
At ISU, inclusive education means providing education that is as inclusive as possible. The student population, aged 4 to 18, exhibits great diversity in language, culture, educational background, and educational and developmental needs. Aligned with this diversity, the educational vision and philosophy from the IB, ISU has a strong support structure focused on inclusion, working closely with core partners around the school. We have opened the "Rainbow class" (SEN class), to accommodate the diverse needs of learners, where they spend parts of their day.

Vacancy
The International School Utrecht is looking to recruit an enthusiastic person for the roleSpecial Educational Needs Teacher.
Candidates with International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme experience will be taken into consideration first.
Qualifications and experience:
- A degree in Special Needs Education (SEN) teaching qualification (DUO recognised)
- Experience teaching IB PYP is preferred
- Experience in writing individual learning plans (ILP's)
- Experience in Positive Behaviour Support (PBS)
- A minimum of five years' classroom experience
- A minimum if two year's experience working with SEN children
- Knowledge of Disabilities and Disorders: Familiarity with a wide range of special educational needs, including autism spectrum disorders (ASD), attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), dyslexia, and other learning and developmental disabilities.
- Assessment Skills: Ability to assess and identify individual needs and create tailored educational plans.
- Differentiation: Skills in differentiating instruction to meet diverse learning needs and styles.
- Adaptability: Ability to modify teaching methods and materials to accommodate different abilities and learning styles.
- Inclusive practices: Strategies to create an inclusive classroom environment that supports all learners.
- Collaborative Skills: Working closely with parents, caregivers, other teachers, and support staff to ensure a coordinated approach to each child's education.
- Assistive Technology: Proficiency in using assistive technologies and educational software designed to support SEN students.
- Mindset: a flexible mindset to improve the education continuously.
- Near-native level spoken and written English language.
