'The ophthalmology department is undergoing constant development.' 'Strengthen the team with your expertise as an Orthoptist' ZorgSaam Hospital is looking for a new colleague Orthoptist (Terneuzen, Oostburg, Hulst, 24-32 hours per week)

Your workplace: At our hospital, you have the opportunity to make a difference for children facing vision development issues and adults with coordination problems. As an independent orthoptist, you provide guidance, mainly to young patients requiring visual and binocular function assessments. You conduct orthoptic consultations, establish diagnoses, and treatment plans. The treatment plan is reviewed and adjusted as necessary for follow-up. When needed, you collaborate with the ophthalmologist. This takes place at the Ophthalmology outpatient clinic with hospital locations in Terneuzen (main), Hulst, and Oostburg (possibly). Approximately 500 patients visit our eye clinics weekly, where they are assisted by optometrists, ophthalmic technical assistants (TOA), orthoptists, clinic assistants, and ophthalmologists. One of our ophthalmologists specializes in strabismus, closely collaborating with orthoptists. Preoperative assessments and surgery suggestions are a significant part of the job. You are part of a dedicated and enthusiastic team that enjoys brainstorming for the benefit of patients.

Your responsibilities also include:

  • Performing visual and binocular function assessments;
  • Identifying visual and binocular issues in patients;
  • Providing explanations about visual functioning to patients and involved parties;
  • Creating treatment plans;
  • Conducting pre- and post-operative examinations for strabismus patients;
  • Contributing to surgery proposals for strabismus patients;
  • Ensuring a child-centered approach throughout the diagnostic process;
  • Collaborating across disciplines;
  • Keeping up to date with developments in the field and contributing to their implementation within the;

Your qualifications and skills:

  • A bachelor's degree in Orthoptics and registration in the Quality Register for Paramedics;
  • Experience in conducting orthoptic assessments in children;
  • In-depth professional knowledge that you actively maintain;
  • Excellent social and communication skills;
