They have an open position for a Road Designer because more and more Civil Engineering projects are lining up and they need someone to design the urban roads. With over inhabitants, this municipality is a proud city with a rich history. Over the coming years, the municipality faces many challenges and developments in the field of public space and mobility. The municipality's mission is to enhance livability, sustainability, and accessibility, which comes with its challenges in the civil domain. While cars will remain present, ideally they will be less prominent. The department of about 25 people works passionately on this every day. This collaboration involves various stakeholders like residents, clients, and politics. The organization invests significantly in your happiness and personal as well as professional development. They are currently looking for a Road Designer motivated to contribute to the ambitious mission of the city of Leiden.

Job Description:

As a Road Designer, you will translate information from the planning phase into a technically feasible 2D or 3D design using software like Civil3D or AutoCAD. Additionally, you will have the following tasks and responsibilities:

  • Provide advice on your designs;
  • Consider the feasibility and safety of the designs;
  • Evaluate and optimize projects within your project team;
  • Collaborate with various internal and external stakeholders;
  • Have the opportunity to grow into a role that suits you best.

Your Profile:

You are a communicative Road Designer who works meticulously and analytically. You have a background in Civil Engineering and possess HBO-level of education. You are familiar with project-based work and have knowledge of the public space within the municipality. Additionally, you bring the following:

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience working with design software such as AutoCAD or Civil3D;
  • Excellent command of the Dutch language;
  • Strong persuasive skills;
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team.
