Lead a team of enthusiastic engineers with defining and developing control systems, covering both Internal Combustion Engines and Battery Electric Vehicle related Control Systems You will play a key role in leading the System Engineering Powertrain group within the Platform Development department, to enable DAF Trucks to expand their excellent position in the market by making trucks safer to drive, easier to operate in the best possible way to the truck driver.


The Powertrain consists of motivated and talented engineers for various roles including Control System Owners, Hardware Lead Engineers as well as Sensor and Actuator specialists.

Your focus will be on People, Processes and Technology, to support the engineers and put them in their strengths. You will be responsible for development, career and succession plan for the engineers reporting to you. You will be part of multiple delivery teams jointly prioritizing and monitoring progress of the deliverables. At strategical level you will co-operate with the colleague Supervisor System Engineering Vehicles and the Engineering Manager.

In this position you will report to the Engineering Manager of the Platform Development department.

Your responsibilities:

  • Personal development of skill and competences for the direct reports;
  • Building, managing, and motivating a highly talented, energetic, and knowledgeable team;
  • Communication and cooperation with PACCAR internal stakeholders and external suppliers, incl. reporting towards management;
  • Maintaining standards and roadmaps for Control Systems, sensors, actuators, defining project scope items, and leading investigations into issues and opportunities;
  • Resource, budget and planning forecasts and realization according project demands;
  • Work according DFSS and DMAIC methodology realizing demands regarding functionality, durability, reliability, manufacturability, and serviceability of technical scope;
  • Proactively optimize existing, and develop new working processes;
  • Knowledge expertise expansion to meet future legal and market demands including changing platforms (eg. Electrification, Hydrogen).

Embedded Engineering has over 190 highly skilled people today. Together they deliver world class engineering in the domains of engine controllers and vehicle control units.


Next to that, focusing on common development, Embedded Engineering works closely together with PACCAR Embedded Engineering US located in Mount Vernon, Kirkland and Lewisville (Tx).


The products developed within Embedded Engineering are applied on DAF trucks but also in the PACCAR brands Kenworth and Peterbilt.

Through component sales our products are used by leading bus and coach manufacturers. To succeed in this role, you should have a Bachelor or Master degree in Mechatronic, Electronic or Automotive Engineering. Knowledge of the Powertrain domain, E/E Powertrain Architecture and experience with Internal Combustion Engine development are a must.

In addition:

  • Knowledge of Automotive Safety (ISO26262), Cybersecurity (ISO/SAE21434, UN155&156) and system development (Automotive SPICE) standards;
  • At least 5+ years of relevant working experience with:
  • Development (lead) of Powertrain Control Systems
  • Leading a team of engineers/specialists
  • Automotive Control System Development and processes
  • The Ability to act and adapt in a fast changing environment serving multiple stakeholders
  • The ability to effectively collaborate with diverse groups, each possessing their own levels of expertise and skills;
  • People manager with soft skills, leading the development and succession of his team.
  • Fluent in English language effective communication in both verbal and written form.
