NH Collection Amsterdam Barbizon Palace is located in the historic city center, across from Amsterdam Centraal. Our five-star hotel offers all facilities under one roof. Comprising 19 buildings from the 17th century, the hotel features a fine dining restaurant Vermeer, a cozy bar Bottles & Jars, various meeting and event spaces such as the monumental Olofskapel, as well as a fitness center with sauna and steam bath. We pride ourselves on being a real learning environment with a passionate team eager to share their expertise in hospitality and luxury with new colleagues. A day in the life of a Day/Night Receptionist

06:45 You are dressed and have arrived in the back office with a cup of coffee. Your colleague from the night shift provides the handover. You note the action points

07:00 You start your checklist and stand behind the front desk with your brightest smile to assist the first guests

08:00 You have checked today's arrivals and communicated any special requirements to the Desk Manager and other departments

10:00 Between phone calls, you handle incoming emails and work through the 'morning rush'

12:00 Enjoy lunch with your colleagues from other departments

13:00 Check for any departing guests and continue with the checklist until it's completed

14:00 Ensure the handover is updated for the late shift and begin counting the cash and wrapping up your shift

14:45 The late shift has arrived, and you can start the handover

15:00 Head home for the day
