The Joint Impact Model Foundation is a non-profit, currently incubated at FMO, responsible for the credible oversight of the development of the Joint Impact Model (JIM) and its uses, as well as to manage the calendar of updates and model development.


Launched by FMO and other international finance institutions in 2021, the foundation works towards harmonization of key indicators to build accountability and steer financing in the US$140tn finance sector.


Using input data such as revenue and power production from investment portfolios, the Joint Impact Model enables users to estimate financial flows through the economy and its resulting economic (value added), social (employment) and environmental (greenhouse gas emissions) impact.


Background
FMO (the Netherlands Development Finance Company) is the Dutch development bank. Founded in 1970, FMO supports sustainable private sector growth in developing and emerging markets by investing in ambitious entrepreneurs.

Moreover, we actively participate in international harmonization initiatives with the aim of arriving at a consensus methodology and a set of indicators to measure and report on impact.


Your role:

We are looking for an intern to support the activities of the JIM Foundation.

The Joint Impact Model requires the type of hands-on support which many start-ups generally require. Full flexibility and ability to adapt is very important in this fast-paced environment. This includes data analysis, the presentation of data analysis, content creation, research, and other ad hoc tasks.

You will work alongside young professionals and have many cross-institution and cross-country interactions.

More importantly, you will be involved in every aspect of the Joint Impact Model Foundation and will be able to acquire knowledge not only in finance related aspects, but in entrepreneurship as well.

Your background:

Minimum Requirements

  • Currently in a bachelor's or master's degree with focus on economics, business, finance or related fields
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to work with MS Office, special emphasis in Excel;
  • Excellent in English, both written and spoken;
  • Selfstarter, strong work ethic, eager to learn;
  • Available for a period of 6 months, 45 days per week.

Requirements that are an advantage (a plus)

  • Knowledge and experience with data analytics
  • Knowledge and experience with EEIO modelling
  • Experience on impact investing and reporting.
The internship is suitable for bachelor or master student. The remuneration is EUR 750 net a month (based on 40 hours a week). You must already be studying and living in the Netherlands. We do not reimburse transport.

Start date its negotiable, ideally beginning June.
