Your Challenges
  • Designing, developing, and maintaining data pipelines and ETL processes to extract, transform, and load HR data from various sources into a centralized data warehouse or data lake;
  • Building and optimizing data models, schemas, and data marts to support HR analyses, reporting, and business intelligence initiatives;
  • Ensuring data quality, integrity, and governance by implementing data validation, cleansing, and standardization processes;
  • Automating data extraction, transformation, and reporting processes to enhance efficiency and scalability;
  • Providing technical expertise and guidance on data engineering best practices, tools, and technologies;
  • Profiling and analyzing data to identify patterns, trends, and insights to support data-driven decision-making in HR;
  • Documenting data lineage, metadata, and data models to ensure transparency and maintenance.
Your Profile
  • Minimum Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, Data Science, Business Intelligence, Mathematics/Statistics, or a related field;
  • 3-5 years of experience in IT with hands-on knowledge of data engineering concepts, ETL processes, databasing, data modeling, and data management;
  • Proficiency in SQL, Python, DAX, Power Query (Excel, Power BI) within the context of Microsoft Fabric and Power Platforms. Knowledge of PowerApps (dataverse) is a plus;
  • Strong communication skills to simplify complex data;
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills;
  • Team player with a proactive attitude;
  • Fluency in English. Dutch is not required, but preferred;
  • Preferred: familiar with SAP SuccessFactors (Reporting module).
What You'll Do in This Role

Data and analytics are essential in today's professional services world and a top priority at KPMG. As an 'HR Data (BI) Engineer', you will join a young and dynamic team. Providing top-of-the-line service to 5500 individuals across KPMG Netherlands, we are shaping the future organization where technology and data work for us. We are looking for a technical expert to implement innovative solutions in the complex infrastructure of the HR Domain. The HR Reporting team handles all crucial HR People Data.
During your role, you will collaborate closely with the Data Office for the transition to the new Data Platform (Informatica/Microsoft Fabric). Various data products and reports are being built to create a top-of-the-line service and data marketplace. Together with the Finance department (Corporate Reporting team), these reports and insights are vital steering information for KPMG leadership.
With your expertise as an (HR) Data Engineer, you play a key role in digital enablement. Working on complex projects and enhancing technical knowledge are central to your responsibilities. You will be accountable for developing and managing the data infrastructure of our HR department. Utilizing SQL (and Python) coding languages, you will deliver practical solutions for our internal stakeholders. You will further enhance our current HR reporting infrastructure (dashboards and reports) on both technical and visualization levels. This contributes to realizing the HR Data Strategy through data-driven insights, analyses, and steering information.
