TBAuctions accelerates the transformation of B2B commerce towards a future in which online auctions reign as the primary channel for buying and selling second-hand business goods. Being the foremost online auction platform, we lead the way in fostering the circular economy, prolonging the lifespan of pre-owned items, and reducing waste and emissions. Embracing the belief that 'Everything Has Value,' we enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of auctions through the strategic use of technology, standardization, automation, and economies of scale. Leveraging AI and big data, we have developed sophisticated auctioning processes that continuously optimize dynamics, enhance user experiences, and effectively match supply with demand.

TBA's business primarily focuses on B2B markets, with 1.3B EUR in auction sales recorded in 2023. Presently dominating the online auction sector in the Benelux and Nordics regions, we are strategically positioned for expansion across Continental Europe. Our diverse portfolio comprises 8 auction brands operating in Benelux and the Nordics.

In January 2022, TBA became part of Castik Capital, signaling a new growth phase. Subsequently, Summa Equity joined Castik as a co-investor in this pan-European digital auction platform. Backed by these forces, TBA aims to strengthen its market presence in existing markets and verticals, drive organic growth, and expedite acquisitions to emerge as the leading digital auction house in Europe.

Playing a pivotal role in the global adoption of the circular economy, TBA facilitates the transition of second-hand goods to new owners, aligning with the global ESG agenda. The primary responsibility of the ESG Director is to foster and promote circularity and sustainability within our organization. This position reports to the CMO and forms part of the Marketing MT.

We are seeking an individual with a profound commitment to corporate sustainability and circularity, unafraid to champion these values externally. If you are intrinsically motivated towards sustainability, capable of inspiring and generating innovative ideas across all organizational levels, from the front line to the C-suite, then you could be the ideal fit for us.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute TBA's corporate ESG strategy.
  • Monitor ESG performance against set goals consistently, benchmarking performance against industry peers and trends. Identify and address ESG-related issues, risks, and opportunities, offering strategic advice.
  • Drive ESG reporting both internally and externally, producing regular reports including an annual ESG Report and other necessary documentation.
  • Establish and maintain ESG disclosure controls, ensuring key ESG information is included in regulatory filings.
  • Create and manage an ESG dashboard for functional leaders, the executive team, and shareholders, focusing on metrics that drive performance and inform ESG-related decision-making.
  • Facilitate internal discussions on ESG to shape corporate strategy, provide actionable recommendations, and collaborate with stakeholders to implement changes.
  • Lead and oversee projects spanning various segments and corporate functions.
  • Collaborate closely with the Marketing team to actualize TBAuctions' sustainability vision.
  • Promote employee engagement in sustainability through communication initiatives, educational content, and community-building activities.
  • Work in conjunction with Group brands on marketing strategies to highlight the company's sustainability initiatives. Develop internal and external communication plans and events to enhance the visibility of our ESG efforts.
  • Manage the ESG budget and initiatives, ensuring resources are allocated effectively to meet ESG targets.
  • Collaborate with the Director of People & Culture to advance diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts and create a culture that values these principles. Work closely with local brands and ESG ambassadors to align on initiatives and share best practices.
  • The ESG Director should possess experience in long-term strategic planning and understand how ESG factors can align with the company's overarching goals.
Experience and Qualifications
  • Equipped with the skills and mindset to drive TBAuctions' 2x growth in the next 3 years.
  • Requires 12+ years of relevant experience, including direct involvement in ESG programs within a corporate setting, encompassing reporting and ratings frameworks.
  • Demonstrated familiarity with ESG frameworks, standards, and industry trends.
  • Proficient in writing and report preparation.
  • Minimum of 3 years of Project Management experience.
  • Must possess executive presence and a passion for collaborative teamwork.
  • A Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent work experience is necessary.
  • Preferred qualifications include a Master's or graduate degree in ESG, CSR, or a related discipline.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to convey complex ESG concepts to various audiences.
  • Experience in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Solid analytical and problems-solving capabilities.
  • Adaptability and willingness to work in a startup environment where policies are still evolving.
  • Strong sense of accountability and inclination towards collaboration and partnership building.
  • Interpersonal effectiveness and a focus on teamwork.
