Would you like to lead the direction of the research line Sustainable Textiles in the internationally renowned research group Sustainable & Functional Textiles? Will you ensure that our applied research has an impact on the network of (regional, national, and international) circular textile partners? Then Saxion would love to get in touch with you.

This is what you do as Associate Professor Sustainable Textiles

You will coordinate the research line Sustainable Textiles within the research group Sustainable & Functional Textiles. Together with the research group leader dr. Jens Oelerich and the deverse team of experts, you will develop an innovative research portfolio, tailored to the issues faced by regional and (inter)national businesses, the international academic network, and society as a whole. The focus will be on generating impact as envisioned by the UN's Sustainable Development Goals.
You will manage and strengthen the already impressive internationally recognized network through strategic relationships and collaborations with partners from the textile industry, governments, trade, and branche organizations.

You will proactively work on knowledge creation and the dissemination of research results through publications, seminars, prototypes, and in education.

School of Creative Technology (ACT)
As Associate Professor at Saxion, you will work within the Sustainable & Functional Textiles research group which provide education and research for the Fashion and Textile Technologies and the master's program in Innovative Textile Development. This team is part of the School of Creative Technology (ACT). ACT is continuously working on finding the right balance between creativity and technology to prepare students for their future in a dynamic work environment.

  • The following salary scale: scale 13: min € 5,745 / max € 6,997 (cao-hbo) working on a full-time basis.

Job requirements

We seek a professional who fits the job profile below. Does this sound like you? Then this job is ideal for you

  • A postgraduate academic degree (PhD or similar) or comparable relevant workexperience, preferably in a subjects such as textile technology, chemistry, or environmental science with proven (applied) research experience, for example, from an industrial or academic research environment.
  • Driven by new technological developments and the belief that multidisciplinary collaboration leads to innovation to help in the transition to a circular textile economy.
  • Strong communication and networking skills with demonstrated experience in connecting academic, industrial, and societal stakeholders.
  • Coordination and project management qualities. Strong ability to oversee large projects and build research programs.
  • Connector of research and education, skilled in inspiring students and teachers for applied research and willingness to contribute to our study programs Fashion & Textile Technologies and Innovative Textile Development.
