Onze organisatie:
For the project Circolab we are looking for a full-time Professional Doctorate candidate. Circolab is about remanufacturing in the maritime industry, specifically focussed at refits. The issue is broad, so logistics, economics, technology, maybe even some design for remanufacturing is all part of the questions we have. It will be the focus of the PD to find suitable theories and approaches for the evaluation, design and implementation of remanufacturing for refits in the Maritime sector. In other words, how to be able to determine if something will work, or why it would not work. Besides that the role of the PD would also be to act as the central (scientific) point in the project (the only one working full-time on it, so keeping the others up to date etc.), so some experience in project management is a pre.

Circolab
Circolab has been set-up as an open living lab, for the start we have a number of key partners in the Industry (Oceanco, Heinen en Hopman, Marine Services North, Port of Rotterdam, Aegir Marine) committed with actual projects and cases. However, the open form of the project, means more companies can join with their cases and take advantage of the knowledge gained in earlier cases. We have some support for bringing in other companies, but integration of their needs and cases into the larger patchwork would be up to you. This could also mean that you request the support to look for specific cases as this information is missing for example. The key idea is that the sum of all cases will be bigger than the individual parts, thanks to your design of the approach.

Besides companies we are working with people from TU Delft, HR, Haagse Hogeschool and Leonardo da Vinci and their students to support this research. These experts can support you and steer you in the right direction either as supervisors, or as stakeholders. In this practical research, the goal is to involve students as much as possible, both on site as well as bringing cases to class projects, so a bit more at a distance.

Wat ga je doen?
As a Professional Doctorate at Hogeschool Rotterdam you will have the opportunity to find answers to important questions about sustainability in the maritime sector. You will work towards degree on the project Circolab. On the road to this degree (within the national PD pilot) you will play a prominent role in organizing, managing and executing the research for this project in combination with cases with companies and linked with projects in education.

You will be supervised by a group of supervisors both from the university as well as from companies. As a PD you will be part of the Maritime PD network and explore what it means to be(come) a PD, given this is still a pilot. You will be able to learn on the job as well as follow courses to improve your interpersonal and technological skills.

Context and collaboration
As part of the CoE HRTech you will work amongst a variety of researchers, lecturers and professors on the challenges of the larger Port of Rotterdam area. Within the theme of smart logistics and maritime innovation, we work closely together with the faculty Rotterdam Mainport Institute, but also Engineering and Applied Science. Within this theme several large projects are running in which both PhDs and lecturers are doing research into smart and sustainable transport and port activities. As part of your assignment, you will divide your time between these institutes and the CoE location, as you will work with both researchers and student on this project.

As a Professional Doctorate at Hogeschool Rotterdam, you will have the opportunity to make an important contribution to the development of the potential of remanufacturing for the maritime sector as whole, but especially in the greater Rotterdam Area. You will work with many dedicated researchers, both within Rotterdam, but also from the other partner institutes, which will support you in becoming a professional applied researcher, able to bring change to the sector.

The team and the workplace
You will be part of a close-knit team of (senior) lecturer-researchers and PhD students led by the lecturer Maritime Innovation Jeroen Pruijn. The practice-oriented (scientific) research covers a broad field. You will work at CoE HRTech, one of the Centres of Expertise (CoE's) of Hogeschool Rotterdam.

Depending on experience between € 5, € 6,698.86 gross per month for full time employment (salary scale 12). Four year contract (D4). 8% vacation pay and 8.3% year-end bonus.
