Your contribution to innovation at Tata Steel Nederland: Not only writing, defending, and opposing, but also providing substantive advice.What is your job?As a European Patent Attorney, you will be responsible for managing and protecting our extensive patent ;

You will be part of the Intellectual Property Services (IPS) team. Within this team you will acquire the intellectual property rights for inventions of Tata Steel Nederland.

You draw up patent applications, submit them to the relevant patent granting authority and defend the IP position of Tata Steel Nederland in opposition proceedings before the EPO. You work together with the legal department in drawing up IP-related agreements. You have a coordinating role in legal cases and you work closely with international agencies and agents.

In addition, you are a sparring partner for the management of Research & Development and other stakeholder departments within Tata Steel Nederland to jointly formulate the IP policy for your portfolio.

Of course you know very well what is going on in the IP field. You are able to communicate this knowledge and expertise within R&D and Tata Steel Nederland.Is this you?We offer you a unique position at an interesting, dynamic, and international steel company. We are looking for:
• Several years of experience as a qualified European Patent Attorney and ideally with UPC qualification.
• The following competences: oral and written communication skills, persuasiveness, collaboration, commitment, accuracy, analytical skills.
• Excellent command of the English language; command of Dutch is an advantage.
• Knowledge of design and/or trademark law is an advantage.
• Affinity with metallurgy, (polymer) chemistry and/or process technology is an advantage.What do we offer?Tata Steel Nederland is a unique company characterized by an open and informal culture in a technical environment, and with a large and long history. • A base monthly salary of up to €9,361,00 depending on experience and on a fulltime ;

Tata Steel Nederland invests tens of millions of euros in process and product development, with a focus on the transition to making carbon-free iron and steel as clean as possible. In addition to high investments, this transition also requires a major development effort from our researchers and engineers.

Your department
The Intellectual Property Services (IPS) department is part of Research & Development. From IJmuiden, IPS manages the intellectual property of Tata Steel Nederland, including that of its subsidiaries at home and abroad. An average of 25-40 new patent applications are filed each year. The team consists of 6 patent attorneys, a trademark attorney/searcher and 3 secretarial and administrative employees. You report to the Manager Intellectual Property.
