Furthermore, the group's strategic focus lies predominantly on accelerating international expansion, with Germany as its primary priority. A substantial portion of future growth is anticipated to result from external expansion initiatives. As a family-owned business, Heppner has nurtured its independence since its creation in 1925 and is now led by the CEO Jean-Thomas Schmitt, representing the 4th family generation. Following the acquisitions of HaCas (Gilze) in 2017, and Segers Internationaal Transport (Oosterhout) in September 2024, Heppner currently employs more than 60 people in The Netherlands who are realizing a consolidated turnover of over 50 million EUR.


ROLE


The Financial Controller will lead the financial reporting, accounting operations, and internal controls for Heppner’s entities in the Netherlands (located in Noord-Brabant). This position ensures the accuracy, integrity, and compliance of financial data in accordance with both local and international accounting standards. The role will also focus on financial analysis and strategic planning to support business operations.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES


1. Financial Reporting & Accounting

Oversee the preparation and consolidation of financial statements for the Heppner’s subsidiaries in the Netherlands in compliance with local regulations and international accounting standards.

Produce, review, and ensure the accuracy of all financial reports.

Provide financial analysis and commentary to support the global business strategy and decision-making.


2. Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A)

Work closely with the international finance team to prepare budgets, forecasts, and financial projections.

Provide insightful analysis of performance, including variance analysis, cost control, and profitability assessments.


3. Process Improvement

Lead continuous improvement initiatives to streamline accounting processes and reporting systems.

Implement automation tools and best practices for efficient financial operations across the organization.


PROFILE


  • Min. Bachelors degree in economics, finance or related field.
  • 7 years + of finance, accounting and/or controlling experience in international groups and in a multi-subsidiary environment.
  • Strong knowledge of international accounting standards (IFRS, GAAP) and regulatory requirements.
  • Expertise in financial consolidation and reporting software, ERP systems (e.g., Hyperion, Sage), and advanced Excel skills.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills, able to take initiatives and handle multiple projects simultaneously to meet critical deadlines.
  • The implementation of a reliable cash flow forecast has few secrets for you.
  • Energetic and flexible with a capability to drive change.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
  • Previous experiences in the logistics and/or retail industry and in BI implementation would be an asset.
  • Bilingual: English/Dutch. Knowledge of French/German would be a plus.
