Functieomschrijving

The Control Engineer at NEM will play a pivotal role in ensuring the seamless operation of Heat Recovery Steam Generators (HRSGs) by implementing and programming Distributed Control Systems (DCS). This role demands expertise in HRSG processes, a strong understanding of DCS systems (preferably Foxboro DCS), and the ability to work efficiently in a high-stakes environment.


Key Responsibilities:

  • DCS System Implementation: Collaborate with the client to integrate system descriptions and functional control diagrams into the DCS system. This includes configuring the DCS to automate the start-up, shut down, and operational processes of the HRSG.
  • HRSG Operations Management: Oversee the HRSG's operational aspects to ensure they are conducted safely, efficiently, and reliably. This involves real-time monitoring and adjusting the system to maintain optimal performance.
  • Functional Requirements Translation: Convert the client's functional requirements into precise inputs for the DCS programmer. This ensures that all operational needs are accurately represented within the DCS configuration.
  • Technical Support and Troubleshooting: Act as the primary contact for control-related issues at the site. Provide technical support to resolve any control system problems, ensuring minimal downtime and maximum efficiency.
  • Site Liaison: Serve as the main point of contact for NEM at the client site in Saudi Arabia. This includes coordinating with the client's team, addressing any operational concerns, and facilitating communication between NEM and the client.
  • Safety and Compliance: Ensure that all control systems and operations comply with safety standards and regulatory requirements. This includes conducting safety audits and implementing best practices to prevent accidents and ensure a safe working environment.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify areas for improvement within the control systems and processes. Propose and implement enhancements to boost efficiency, reliability, and performance of the HRSG operations.

Qualifications:


Experience:

At least 5 years of experience as a Controls Engineer, covering the full project lifecycle from concept to detailed engineering, implementation, FAT/SAT, and commissioning for HRSG.


Technical Skills:

Proficiency in DCS systems, with specific knowledge of Foxboro DCS preferred. Strong understanding of measurement and control technology, fluid flow, and heat transfer technology. Ability to convert functional requirements into clear input for DCS programming.


Problem-Solving:

Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to distinguish between main and side issues and develop effective solutions.


Communication:

Outstanding English language skills, both written and spoken, to facilitate clear and effective communication with the client and the NEM team.


Teamwork:

Strong teamwork skills, coupled with the ability to work independently when required. Able to collaborate effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders.


Nationality

Owner of a Dutch or EU passport, because of international travels.
