YOUR JOB:
As a Head of Agronomy you lead and manage the global Operation Technology (OTEC) team for the assigned expertise (Agronomy) and ensure the delivery of OTEC projects from a content and quality perspective.
YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Plan, coordinate and prioritize team activities in consultation with project leaders (Technology Scientists or Technology Specialists) and stakeholders in the Operations functions and R&D to ensure timely and efficient project delivery
- Establish, implement and communicate processes providing clear direction to team activities. Ensure global consistency of team activities
- Actively participate in the global OTEC and Production Leadership Team and share responsibility for OTEC management and the delivery of the OTEC project portfolio
- Maintain a strong relationship with other departments and manage support activities provided by OTEC staff
- Monitor and verify that resources (facilities, equipment, processing capacity and personnel) are operational, creating short-term strategy for growth to ensure continued successful operation of the team
- At the right level, monitor the quality of the work – trial plans, data collection, data analysis and reporting. Monitor timelines, output and implementation of projects in order to meet budget, deliverables, timeline and quality requirements
- Ensure all team members are adequately trained and understand and comprehend the relevant procedures
- Enable scientific staff to develop their expert knowledge, support and stimulate the evaluation and exploration of new technologies and collaboration
- Coach, supervise and review all team members encouraging and seeking opportunities for personal development and growth of all team members
- Maintain knowledge of business and knowledge of customers’ processes
- In cooperation with QHSE ensure regulatory compliance with corporate, local, state and national government mandates in order to ensure safety measures are maintained
WORK EXPERIENCE
- MSc or PhD in a plant physiology, seed technology or a relevant scientific field
- Relevant work experience (>5 years)
- Management experience (>2 years)
- Energy, enthusiasm and a pro-active approach to problem solving
- Problem solving skills
- Proven excellent interpersonal skills, good coaching skills
- Functional competences: pro-active, responsible, motivator, achiever, accurate
- Experience as an (lead)-auditor
- Process oriented and pragmatic
- Able to manage complexity
- Flexible team player
- Gains credibility quickly, easily interacting with people to obtain opinions, contributions and approvals and able to deal with different opinions
- Excellent communication, reporting and interpersonal skills
- Able to train and motivate
