Within ASML the sector Development & Engineering is responsible for the specification and the design of the ASML products. The sensor department is responsible for development, delivery, integration and qualification of functional sensor modules and applications. The sensors developed in this department are key for the ASML business drivers overlay, imaging, focus and throughput.

Roles and responsibilities

As Design Engineer in our Level Sensors and Light Sources department you will be a key player in a multidisciplinary environment that further develops and improves the current and next generation optical sensors and light sources for our ASML machines. This position is part of the Level Sensor EUV group. The job consist of :

  • Analysis and modeling of the Level sensor performance typically using (MATLAB/ZEMAX) simulation tooling

  • Understanding of requirements and design specifications enabling system performance

  • Generating effective and creative optical solutions to improve Level Sensor performance

  • Contributing to troubleshooting and deep dive into root cause analysis as well as identifying solution directions

  • Supporting the implementation and integration of those solutions and its use by the final customers

  • Building a strong sense of teamwork by understanding your colleagues’ roles and their challenges

Education and experience

  • Technical University, MSc or PhD in Physics or Engineering.

  • Proven experience or affinity with optics; preferably experienced with ZEMAX for optical simulations or similar software tooling

  • Experience with hardware development, data analysis using MATLAB

  • Solid background on design of experiments and presentation

  • Preferably experienced in industry and working in multidisciplinary teams
