Your Role

You will join our Rotterdam based Investment Engineering team, in some cases working together with the larger engineering team in London and Malaga, to help development of Data Pipelines, ETL processes and Python tooling to make Cardano’s Sustainable Investment business more robust, scalable and efficient. You will be a Software Engineer that is primarily focused on Data Pipelines and Data Architecture. Initially you will work embedded within a team of quantitative analysts and sustainability experts to enhance our data architecture and pipeline for producing sustainability reports. You will provide architectural guidance to the team, collaborating closely with our Engineering team on data structure and system design. You will be the bridge between this team and Engineering best-practices of Cardano. Additionally, you will participate in coding and code reviews.

We believe in picking the best tool for the job. Our stack consists of a variety of technologies that can best solve a specific problem. You have a voice in using, reducing or expanding that stack. The developer would be expected to work collaboratively and share their knowledge with other team members and contribute to the improvement of the platform, practices and patterns and technology stack. They would actively participate in our culture of learning program to stay current with industry trends, to train and to participate in the engineering community.



Key responsibilities

  • Use your Software Engineering skills to provide complete solutions using best practices, ensuring performance and reliability.
  • Collaborate with the Engineering team to understand Cardano's practices and architecture.
  • Work with quants and sustainability experts to improve the data pipeline for sustainability reports
  • Work closely with the DataOps, DevOps, Infrastructure platform team and other data project teams to ensure your projects use the most appropriate technology consistent with the firm’s strategic tools.
  • Provide guidance on data architecture and system design
  • Engage in coding and code reviews
  • Staying abreast of changing technologies, and continuous learning of innovative approaches to data and software engineering and technologies and bring those ideas into the firm.


Skills Required

To perform the role effectively, you will need the following skills:

  • You have successfully completed a BSc or MSc in a financial, technological, mathematical or scientific degree and have a strong analytical and quantitative foundation
  • Good programming skills with minimum 5 years production experience in building data pipelines & ETL processes
  • Experience working with Python
  • Experience in writing and maintaining automated tests (unit, integration …)
  • Experience working with databases (Relational or non-Relational)
  • Experience with integrating with 3rd party APIs and Systems is a bonus
  • Experience with Airflow and PowerBI is a bonus
  • Experience with Data Lake technologies is a bonus
  • Experience with Big Data Technologies such as Hive, NiFi is a bonus
