Role : SAS to Python Migration Specialist


Duration : Permanent Position


Work Location : Amsterdam, Netherlands


Job Description:


Seeking a highly skilled SAS to Python Migration Specialist to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in migrating SAS-based programs to Python (leveraging PySpark), ensuring seamless transition and optimization of our data processes.

Key Responsibilities:


  • Analyze Existing SAS Programs: Evaluate current SAS programs to understand their functionality and requirements.
  • Migration Planning: Develop a comprehensive migration plan, including timelines, resource allocation, and risk management.
  • Code and Data Conversion: Convert SAS code of analytical assets to Python or PySpark, ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of the new programs.
  • Optimization: Enhance the performance of migrated programs by leveraging the capabilities of Python and PySpark.
  • Testing and Validation: Conduct thorough testing and validation of migrated programs to ensure they meet performance and functionality standards.
  • Evaluates all work is completed in compliance with internal Privacy and Security Policies and Procedures and migration project practices.
  • Meet timelines and milestones by monitoring deliverables. Identifies, reports and helps solve potential risks and issues.
  • Documentation: Maintain detailed documentation of migration processes, including code changes, testing procedures, and performance metrics.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with data scientists, data engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure successful migration and integration of programs.
  • Training and Support: Provide training and support to team members on the new Python/PySpark-based programs.

Required Qualifications:

  • Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in SAS programming and at least 5+ years of experience in Python, Jupyter Notebooks, Databricks, Git and SQL.

Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency in Python, SAS and Databricks platforms.
  • Strong understanding of data processing and analysis related to Finance and Risk data.
  • Experience with cloud platforms such as Azure.
  • Familiarity with database systems and data warehousing concepts.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Team Collaboration: Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certifications: Relevant certifications in SAS, Python, Databricks or cloud computing.
  • Experience with large Enterprise IT environments: Knowledge of enterprise technologies and frameworks related data, analytics, and data processing.
