All about the role

As a Legal Counsel, you'll become part of the group legal Commercial. We are looking for a driven person with a primary focus on different types of commercial agreements, either partner (sales) focussed or more supplier-focused. We are looking for a generalist who is also keen to pick up other topics if and when they come around, such as marketing initiatives, litigation or regulatory developments.

These are some of the key ingredients for the role:

  • You'll be part of a fantastic team but will also need to be comfortable working independently, drafting and negotiating contracts and working with key stakeholders to get the deal done.
  • As a good communicator, you're able to answer questions and present information in an easy-to-understand way. Balancing legal risk with commerciality and pragmatism is key to success. As part of this varied role, we're also counting on you to:
  • Review, draft, advise on and negotiate a wide variety of commercial contracts such as sales, SaaS, services, goods and marketing agreements.
  • Have working knowledge of and interest in consumer, competition and platform regulation matters and be involved in ad hoc queries and projects to support initiatives with the business.
  • Managing disputes as and when they arise
  • Partner closely with key team members from across the business.
  • Work autonomously and flexibly, while being supervised and supported by senior lawyers
  • Optimise existing and develop and implement new templates, legal policies and procedures.
  • Where appropriate, instructing and supporting external counsel
  • Be part of a great team of legal experts across multiple markets
  • Potential for extension beyond initial 12-month term
Can you deliver

Here are the skills and experience we need from you:

  • PQE in the UK, the Netherlands, or other common law jurisdiction
  • In-depth knowledge of contract and commercial law concepts, with an understanding not only of common legal provisions but also strategy and negotiation skills.
  • Some experience and knowledge of consumer, competition and platform regulation matters is beneficial.
  • Experience in financial services/knowledge of financial regulatory law is a plus.
  • A quick learner with a "can do" attitude and a strong academic record.
  • Confident working across multiple teams and locations on an international scale.
  • Able to work autonomously.
  • Fluent English language skills (written and spoken). Additional languages are a bonus.
