As a Lead Engineer Common Components Software at Lely, you will lead a team of embedded software engineers who are developing common software components for our Robotic Platform, the focus of the team is now on Linux, but we want extend that to multiple components in the future. Like any true people manager, you will coach your team in terms of their professional and social skills, liaising closely with every team member to monitor their career path. You will be closely working together with Lead Engineers of Electronics and Robotic Applications. Together focusing on continuously improving (software) development practices and our products.

Your main responsibilities

Team Management:

Oversee a team of common component software developers consisting of 5 to 10 engineers.Handle hiring, coaching, and career development for team members.Ensure an effective cooperation with our development partners in Europe. Technical Leadership: Support the platform approach an actively promote and roll-out this platform to the Robotic Application teams. So be hands-on technically, actively participating in projects.Address platform architecture and software requirements, cyber security, design, implementation, and testing.Manage maintenance of existing common software components.Interacts with the different software communities (e.g Linux) and actively seeks for new technologies in the market. Agile Practices: Lead teams that work using Agile methodologies, such as Scrum or Kanban.Foster a culture of continuous improvement, encouraging the team to learn, adapt, and enhance their processes.
