TTH's Division Ingredient Solutions is a leading global supplier of food enzymes, cultures, taste and health ingredients and other specialties for many of the leading global and local dairy, baking, beverages and savory food brands. The Center for Food Innovation (CFI) is the dedicated center for Research & Development for TTH and is responsible for the development of food ingredients, cost-effective production processes and solutions for our customers.
We are looking for a Scientist Sensory & Flavor Science to join CFI's Sensory Group.
CFI's Sensory group consists of a sensory scientist (the vacancy), two-panel leaders, and a test leader, who all work closely together. The team is involved in projects related to different business segments such as Savory, Dairy, Baking, and Meat Alternatives, and is part of the global sensory network of dsm-firmenich.The work in flavor science will be done in close collaboration with the senior scientist flavor science. Both the sensory team and the senior flavor scientist are in the Savory & Meat alternatives House, which is based in Delft, the Netherlands, and is part of the Center for Food Innovation.

Key Responsibilities
- Provide leadership in sensory research: Lead the local sensory team in designing experiments, adhering to good sensory practices, and effectively reporting results;
- Serve as the primary contact for sensory science: Act as the main liaison between the sensory science team and business stakeholders as well as R&D project managers;
- Enhance the sensory competence: Take the initiative to enhance existing sensory capabilities by aligning them with current and future business needs. This may involve adopting or developing innovative techniques and practices, or collaborating with other sensory teams in the company, or with external partners to address knowledge gaps;
- Identify, test, and implement new methodologies: Evaluate and deploy new methodologies as needed for project requirements;
- Develop flavor science expertise: Under the guidance of a senior flavor scientist, deploy your knowledge of food science to identify key components in food that contribute to specific sensory characteristics. Recommend optimal methodologies for evaluating these components and suggest approaches to enhance product quality;
- Collaborate with other scientists: Engage in collaborative projects within the realm of flavor science, leveraging your expertise from idea generation to execution and reporting. Work alongside other scientists in, e.g., process development to achieve project goals effectively.
- Reward: Based on your experience we will offer you a base salary of € 76,594 to € 109,420 per year (including holiday allowance and 13th month) and extra benefits, such as 25 holiday days, a bonus, the option to buy more holiday days with a 6% my choice budget and much more.

You Bring
- You hold a PhD in Food Technology, Food Chemistry or Sensory science, or an M.Sc., or an equivalent degree, along with several years of experience in a relevant field;
- You possess a strong affinity and background in sensory work, with a deep understanding of the correlation between food composition and sensory perception. Ideally, you have experience with sensory specialized software, particularly EyeQuestion, and possess a solid grasp of statistics and experimental design. Additionally, you may hold the 'NIMA/MOA Sensorisch Onderzoeker B' certification or have previous experience working with sensory panels;
- With a track record in leading or working within a sensory team for several years, you bring valuable leadership experience to the table.;
- You have a proactive mindset and are eager to lead. As a lifelong learner and team player, you excel in communication;
- You value collaboration with fellow professionals in sensory, flavor science, and product and process development, maintaining a customer-focused approach and willingly sharing knowledge with colleagues;
- Your personality traits include being results-driven and adaptable.
