We are EXIN, an independent certification and accreditation institute focusing on the IT domain. We are looking for an Exam Developer who can, together with the Exam Developers, innovate our process of developing and maintaining our certification portfolio through AI, while keeping to our high-quality standards. This job entails developing, implementing, and maintaining exams, and coordinating localizations (translations) of these exams. The Exam Developer has a strong focus on responsibly using generative AI and complying with legal, qualitative, and ethical norms.
How we work
As an Exam Developer, you coordinate all activities related to developing new exams, translating existing exams to several different languages, updating the exams to current standards during maintenance, and implementing exam products in various systems. Additionally, you review the quality of the exams through item and test analysis. You work on all exams that form part of EXIN's certification portfolio.
Importantly, you will collaborate closely with the Exam Developers to integrate generative AI solutions into our processes. You can translate internal guidelines into machine learning algorithms while maintaining legal, qualitative, and ethical compliance in the outcomes. You stay up to date with the latest research and developments in the field of AI and machine learning.
You are part of a committed team of Exam Developers, working closely with the Product Owner to ensure that the products in EXIN's certification portfolio are aligned with the needs of the market. You coordinate work with the Exam Developers and with small groups of international subject matter experts or third parties.
You have enough experience with software engineering and preferably generative AI, to deliver high-quality algorithms and prompts for developing, updating, and translating exam requirements, exam questions, exam documentation, and other exam-related materials. You (help) ensure that certification is translated, maintained or implemented so that it can be launched in various international markets. Once exams are live, you help resolve issues and ensure that the quality is regularly reviewed.
The team works using Agile principles and works autonomously. We are looking for a pragmatic, flexible person with a hands-on mentality, who is not afraid to take responsibility and works towards high-quality outcomes. Your work is both creative and detail-oriented. Most communication and development work is done in English, so you must be proficient in the English language.
- Coordinating work with subject matter experts and cooperating with third parties in creating, localizing, implementing, and maintaining exam products
- Ensuring deliverables are in line with high-quality standards, within budget, and delivered on time
- (Co)developing and improving exam products in line with guidelines for educational measurement
- Testing exam products (exams and corresponding materials) for the other team members
- Independently writing and maintaining machine learning algorithms complying with standards, best practices, and company policies
- Supporting our Customer Success Center by preparing responses to customer questions on the content of the exams
- Detecting (using test analysis) and resolving issues related to the exam products, and performing root cause analyses to take corrective actions
- Keeping your knowledge in the domain up-to-date
- Representing EXIN through attending (online) events

Requirements- Bachelor's or Master's degree in a related field (for example in Educational Science, Software Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science, Large Language Models, or Prompt Engineering)
- Excellent level of English, both spoken and written
- Affinity with IT, education, and assessment
- Strong understanding of machine learning fundamentals and experience with popular frameworks
- Ability to write machine learning algorithms

- Team player with strong planning and organizing skills, who also enjoys working independently
- Working accurately and efficiently, thinking critically and creatively
- Experience in the field of education and developing exams is a plus
- Proficiency in other languages (for example French, German, Portuguese, Japanese) is a plus
- Available for 32-40 hours per week
