Transmission electronic microscopes are the most sophisticated laboratory instruments that are used today. Platform Software is essential into exploiting all the potential of these microscopes, pushing the limits of current physical technologies. These tools and our software applications are used by scientists and engineers in life science, material sciences and semiconductor industry, indirectly affecting our life in many aspects. By contributing into this platform software, you might help developing better vaccines, new lighter and stronger materials, or more efficient semiconductors.

The Deliver Beam & Optics group is one of the pillars of the Research and Development organization for High-End Transmission Electron Microscopes (TEM). This group is committed to develop groundbreaking technologies, modules and software that enable us to deliver world class TEM microscopes for our demanding markets and customers.
With the ongoing developments in physics and industry the requirements for optical performance of these TEM microscopes are continuously growing. Aligning well with Advanced Technology Development and several selected collaborating partners this group is striving to convert the most promising technological concepts into real products for creating and guiding electron beams for imaging with near-perfect optical performance.

How you will make an impact?
As a Senior Software Engineer Transmission Electron Microscopy, you will be part of an enthusiastic multi-disciplinary team. You will be responsible for software design and implementation from concepts towards introduction in the factory.
Objective of this team is to improve ease-of-use for our customers and performance of the Electron Microscope (throughput, repeatability, image quality etc.) through all kind of system automation. The automation is achieved through (complex) algorithms.
You will work closely together with other subject areas such as system engineering, customer service and operations.
The team is also responsible for maintenance, continuous improvements and collaboration with other software development teams. The developments are done in multi-disciplinary teams across multiple sites in Europe and the US.
Software development takes place in an agile environment where the safe framework is applied. You will contribute to sprint reviews, sprint retrospectives and sprint planning. Together with the product owner, the scrum master and the development team members you are involved in refining the backlog. You will have a lot of freedom in this role and work in a highly innovative setting. The cool part is that you can test your developed Software in real-time on our products.
How will you get there?
· Proven experience to designing software with a very high degree of reliability in a production environment.
· Proven experience to develop applications and/or algorithms in Python.
· Knowledge of software integration and software re-use.
· Having an open mind set to proactively help improving our processes, methods, and techniques.
· Experience with Image processing
The following criteria will give you an advantage
· Experience with software development for high-tech system
· Experience with software development for calibration and alignment algorithms.
· Experience with creating customer value with "Software only" features for a high-tech system.
· In depth knowledge of C++, including modern standards C++11, 14, and 17.
· Knowledge on how to gain advantage from Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning.
· Experience with Microservices and Docker.

· Great teammate with good natural interpersonal communications skills are required due to the high degree of interaction and collaboration.
· Strong analytical view in combined with a pragmatic attitude (flexibility).
