Job Description

We are looking for an experienced and visionary Head of Structures to lead the structural design and engineering efforts for a cutting-edge battery-electric aircraft. This role offers an exciting opportunity to spearhead the development and integration of innovative structural solutions for next-generation aerospace applications. The ideal candidate will bring a strong technical background, exceptional leadership skills, and a passion for advancing electric aviation technology.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Leadership & Innovation

  • Lead the structural design and engineering team for the battery-electric aircraft.
  • Oversee the design and development of the airframe, including fuselage, wings, and empennage.
  • Drive structural analysis and optimization to achieve weight reduction while maintaining safety standards.
  • Support the creation of physical demonstrators to test structural integration of subsystems.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements (e.g., EASA certification) for structural design.

Partnership & Collaboration

  • Manage supplier relationships, including generating statements of work (SOWs), evaluating proposals, and overseeing source selection.
  • Coordinate technical reviews with suppliers and align progress with program milestones.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to integrate electrical systems and batteries within the aircraft structure.

Leadership & Team Management

  • Build and manage a high-performing structures team by setting clear goals, assigning tasks, and fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment.
  • Develop and oversee project timelines, budgets, and resource allocation for structural activities.
  • Stay updated on emerging aerospace technologies and integrate relevant advancements into the company's strategy.

Required Experience

  • 10+ years of experience in aircraft structural design.
  • 5+ years of experience leading engineering teams and managing complex technical projects.
  • Expertise in CAD/FEA tools and composite materials.
  • Proven track record of meeting technical and project milestones on time and within budget.
  • Deep knowledge of EASA Part 21 and CS-25 regulations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced degree (Master's or PhD) in aerospace or mechanical engineering.
  • Extensive understanding of aircraft structural design principles and practices.
  • Strong project and program management skills, with the ability to juggle multiple priorities.
  • Experience building and leading high-performing teams.
  • Established network within the aerospace industry.
  • Prior experience in electric aircraft development is highly desirable.
  • Hands-on experience in physical prototype development and testing is a significant advantage.
  • Proficiency in English with excellent communication and presentation skills.
