We are looking for senior Metrology Functional Design Engineers for Wafer alignment research team. Do you have excellent modelling and simulation skills? Do you like working together in multi-disciplinary teams to improve our products to enable our clients to create the world’s most advanced chips? Then this position might be the perfect fit for you.

Metrology orchestrates the behavior of powerful mechatronic modules, so that together they achieve an extraordinary combination of speed and accuracy. For example, one such module (a wafer stage), accelerates faster than a fighter jet to enable the ASML machine to position a silicon wafer in less than a second, with nanometer accuracy As well as using metrology systems to position wafers, ASML also uses metrology systems to measure and compensate for sub-nanometer inaccuracies that inevitably creep in due to material imperfections, temperature fluctuations, and/or atmospheric pressure changes. To achieve such challenging results, the best metrology systems ever imagined are required.

Role and Responsibilities

You will be part of multidisciplinary Wafer align research team with colleagues having background in Physics and Mathematics. You drive ideas from concept towards getting it accepted by the product team. You are active in creating patents and publications. You develop and/or deliver a plan for significant aspects of a research program with guidance from senior colleagues.

Stay up to date on technical developments in one’s area of expertise and in general affecting ASML and contribute to the overall broadening and maintenance of ASML' s technology base. Share knowledge, including coaching and mentoring of more junior colleagues.

Education and experience

Master degree or PhD (preferred) with substantial general work experience, or equivalent working and thinking level. Comprehensive job related experience in own expertise area to fully competence level.

To thrive in this job, you’ll need the following Skills:

  • Between 5-10 years of working experience in metrology or related research
  • Experience with data analysis and modeling (preferably with Matlab or Python);
  • Experience designing algorithms and functional models;
  • Contribute to technical roadmaps
  • Stakeholder management, Collaboration with multiple parties

This position requires access to U.S. controlled technology, as defined in the United States Export Administration Regulations. Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to access such U.S. controlled technology prior to beginning work.
