Credit Europe Bank is seeking a full-time Legal Counsel to join our legal team. As an integral part of our organization, you will serve as a trusted advisor, providing comprehensive legal counsel to all departments within the Bank. While your advice will encompass a wide range of legal matters, there will be a particular emphasis on supporting our general lending activities. You will report directly to the Senior Legal Counsel in this role.

Key Responsibilities

As a Legal Counsel, you will:

  • Offer legal advice and support to various business departments regarding cross-border bilateral and syndicated loan documentation (LMA), security documentation, and other transactional documents.
  • Advise on a broad range of bank products.
  • Review and offer advice on the Bank's non-financial contracts.
  • Identify associated legal risks and ensure your contributions meet the highest standards, adhering to the Bank’s policies and applicable laws.
  • Proactively monitor legal developments including relevant jurisprudence, legislation/regulations, and industry practices that could impact the Bank’s operations.
  • Update and maintain the Legal Department's know-how and template documents.
  • Collaborate with external legal counsels across various jurisdictions for outsourced legal work.
  • Share legal knowledge and provide necessary assistance to internal stakeholders (corporate banking and credit departments), international subsidiaries, and branch offices.

Personal Skills & Qualifications

The ideal candidate should have:

  • A Master’s degree, preferably in Dutch law.
  • 5-6 years' post-qualified experience in a reputable international law firm with a focus on banking & finance or as an in-house lawyer at an international bank or financial institution.
  • Experience in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating bilateral and/or LMA based loan documentation.
  • Proficiency with various bank products. Knowledge of treasury or cash management products is a plus.
  • Excellent English communication skills in both verbal and written form. Proficiency in Dutch is an advantage.
  • Experience in handling cross border transactions and multi-jurisdictional transactions.
  • An inherent commitment, excellent team spirit, and strong communication skills.

· Open-minded with an international mindset and cultural awareness.

· Able to work independently and manage multiple tasks and transactions, while still being an effective team player.
