Job Title: Senior Manager, Risk & Compliance

Location: Den Haag / The Hague

The Senior Manager, Risk & Compliance will assume strategic responsibilities, contributing to the organization's risk and compliance strategy, ensuring alignment with global regulatory requirements, and integrating (IT) risk management with business objectives. This role will span an international landscape, covering a broad network of operating countries, entities, and staff across multiple continents.

In addition to core responsibilities, this role will involve managing high-level due diligence and acquisition assessments, participation in enterprise-wide projects, and the potential to assume directorial responsibilities as needed. It will also oversee the internal audit function. The position requires a visionary leader capable of embedding a proactive risk culture and working closely with shareholders and key stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

Risk and Compliance Management:

  • Lead, manage, and enhance the organization's Risk Framework.
  • Define the organization's risk appetite, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives.
  • Oversee Anti-Money Laundering (AML) compliance, data privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR), and emerging regulatory requirements.
  • Oversee IT risk management, including cybersecurity.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards and deliver high-quality risk assessments.
  • Conduct due diligence and risk assessments for mergers, acquisitions, and strategic partnerships.
  • Provide leadership in incident analysis, management, and resolution processes.
  • Ensure risk awareness and compliance training across the organization.

Strategic Leadership & Governance:

  • Engage with shareholders, regulatory bodies, and auditors to ensure transparency and compliance.
  • Develop and oversee risk mitigation strategies across all business units.

Project & Change Management:

  • Oversee international risk and compliance projects, ensuring timely delivery of objectives.
  • Drive change management initiatives to strengthen risk culture and internal controls.
  • Collaborate with IT, operations, and legal teams to implement risk mitigation strategies.
  • Ensure compliance with evolving cybersecurity and data privacy threats.

Stakeholder and Client Engagement:

  • Act as a key liaison between international clients, executive leadership, and risk teams.
  • Manage key account relationships, including contract negotiations and regulatory compliance oversight.
  • Communicate risk insights and recommendations effectively to senior management.

Reporting & Policy Development:

  • Develop and present risk and compliance reports to the Board, Supervisory Authorities, and shareholders.
  • Maintain and update the organization's Policy framework to reflect business and regulatory developments.

Experience:

  • 8+ years of experience in risk, compliance, internal audit, and IT risk management.
  • Proven expertise in ERM, AML, data privacy regulations, and risk governance.
  • Extensive experience with due diligence, acquisitions, and post-merger integration.
  • Strong knowledge of relevant industry standards, IT security frameworks (e.g., ISO 27001, NIST), and regulatory compliance.
  • Leadership experience in a multinational financial services, or IT-driven risk environment.

  • Project & Change Management: Ability to lead enterprise-wide risk and compliance initiatives.
  • Data-Driven Decision-Making: Strong analytical skills to assess risks and propose mitigation strategies.
