As a Senior Backend Engineer at Tellent, you design and evolve the Node.js backend that powers our HRIS platform, delivering reliable, scalable workflows for time-off and related HR processes. You work within a product squad to balance technical quality with customer impact, and you may contribute to the React frontend when it enhances the user experience. The role offers exposure to architectural decisions, mentorship, and a path to broader technical influence as the platform scales.

- Build and improve core HR workflows in Node.js with a focus on correctness and reliability (e.g., country-specific time-off policies)
- Design, build, and maintain scalable backend services used by organizations of all sizes
- Improve performance, reliability, and maintainability of existing features amid growth
- Refactor and modernize the platform to ensure a seamless customer experience
- Occasionally contribute to frontend development in React when beneficial
- Collaborate with engineers, Product Managers, QA, and designers to solve customer problems
- Participate in code reviews, technical discussions, and knowledge sharing to raise engineering standards
- Extensive experience designing and building scalable backend applications with Node.js
- Experience with React or willingness to contribute across the stack
- Senior-level engineering judgment for refactoring, optimization, and value-driven shipping
- Product mindset with capability to adapt to evolving requirements and balance technical quality with customer impact
- Curiosity and flexibility to learn new technologies and step outside primary area
