Main Purpose of the Job

Role and Responsibilities

FACILITIES:

• Create a suitable environment for the purpose and needs of the facility.
• Participate and assist in the maintenance of all company property, including but not limited to, manufacturing equipment, buildings, grounds, safety, and others as necessary.
• Inspect and verify status of facilities (e.g. AHU, boilers, fume hoods, air conditioning) including small repairs and adjustments as needed.
• General building fabric maintenance, including basic plumbing and electrical duties.
• Awareness of responsibilities of the landlord vs. Biosynth and reimbursement of repairs/materials if needed.
• Responsible for maintaining a maintenance schedule and to plan and assure routine maintenance execution.
• Complete regular preventive maintenance activities in lab and facility and contribute to the overall value by identifying opportunities and offering suggestions for improvement.
• Checking existing contracts for competitive pricing, performance satisfaction and up-to-date needs.
• Provide prompt and courteous response to operators' and supervisors' requests for maintenance support.
• Provide facility support, including but not limited to, vendor coordination related to structural repairs and general upkeep of the facility and infrastructure.
• Work with contractors and vendors: Ensure that vendors and contractors are operating as outlined in the agreed upon contracts and/or work orders.
• Support the Company's Health and Safety team to stay compliant.
• Participate in regular fire risk assessments, support the company to ensure a reduced fire risk and be part of the fire warden team / BHV.
• Use best business practices to manage and reduce operational costs.
• Compare costs for various services and goods before choosing the best options.
• Track building upkeep as well as anticipated long- and short-term improvements and maintenance.
• Manage the companies construction/building projects and ensure quality work at best prices.
• Support, conduct projects for facility remodeling (such as planning and implementation of a solvent infrastructure) and expansion.
• Reports to management any maintenance issues, trends, and losses.
• Ensure the security of the building by researching and implementing various security measures, such as surveillance cameras or security staff members.

MATERIAL MANAGEMENT:

• Interacts with all levels of company and corporate personnel.
• Act as responsible for on-site logistics – including receival of goods, stock management (using SAP) and distribution to the labs (end-user points).
• Ensuring timely acquisition of materials
• Monitoring stock levels
• Reducing excess inventory and waste
• Coordinating transportation and supply chain activities
• Ensuring efficient material flow
• Provide technical assistance associated with vendor, procurement and stores.

Further accountabilities and responsibilities

• Interview and hire certain facility employees and contractors, such as maintenance staff.
• Handle certain administrative tasks, such as preparing reports for facility owners.
• Support shipping activities when needed.
• Handyman activities, such as assembling and install furniture, shelving, and equipment; assist with moving furniture or setting up rooms for events when required.
• Work in accordance with the installed ISO 9001 and GMP quality system.
• Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures.

Candidate Requirements

• Completed vocational training as a mechanic or proven experience as a facilities engineer or similar role with several years of professional experience in maintenance
• Advanced knowledge in mechanics, electrics and control technology
• Technical understanding, all-rounder qualities
• Strong skills in electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and general building maintenance.
• Experience in the ATEX area
• Ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues efficiently.
• Knowledge of health and safety regulations.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectively.
• General good IT knowledge
