Redstone Commodity Search are working with a major global trading firm looking to hire a quality manager within the Steel Scrap markets to join the commercial team.

Key Responsibilities / Tasks

  • Conduct inspections at terminals and ports to verify that incoming steel scrap deliveries comply with standards for size, weight, and impurities, applying penalties or recommending rejection as needed.
  • Oversee the identification and separation of non-conforming materials, collaborating with yard personnel to maintain quality compliance.
  • Perform pre-inspection visits to sub-suppliers for large shipments (2,000-3,000 MT) to ensure quality prior to delivery.
  • Supervise the loading of bulk and container shipments, ensuring adherence to contractual quality and weight specifications, and address issues with customers or surveyors during the process.
  • Act as a liaison at discharge ports to resolve quality discrepancies, negotiate with customers if needed, and ensure minimal claims during unloading.
  • Reports to Sourcing & Quality Head - Scrap

Key Qualifications / Experience

  • Proven experience of 5 years in quality control and inspection within a relevant industry.
  • Strong background in managing compliance with material standards and shipment processes.
  • Familiarity with coordinating and overseeing teams for material separation and loading operations.
  • Experience conducting on-site supplier visits and pre-inspections for large-scale shipments.
  • Role to be based in Holland, UK, Lithuania or Greece
